VMATYC Northern Regional Conference

I’m sorry to say that due to bad weather we are cancelling the Vmatyc Northern Regional Conference scheduled for tomorrow.  It turns out there’s going to be a big snowstorm.  There’ll be snow or icy rain during the early morning drive, and since so many of us have to drive quite a long distance, we’ve decided to play it safe.

Unfortunately, it’s too late in the semester to reschedule the conference.  So, with great disappointment, we’ll just have to say “let’s try again next year”.

A big thanks to everyone who registered and asked to present.  Let’s all gather this spring at the Statewide Conference March 30-31 at the Middletown campus of Lord Fairfax CC.  The Winchester Holiday Inn hotel will be the conference hotel.

This is a reminder that the Northern Vmatyc Regional Conference is Sat Oct 29 at Blue Ridge Community College.  Vmatyc is our very strong statewide peer group of two year college math and computer science teachers.  Please consider attending.  Network, learn things, influence statewide math and computer science curriculum policy.  We have over 40 registrations at this time.  Information is at http://community.brcc.edu/VmatycNorthernRegional2011/.

This year’s VMATYC Fall Northern Regional Conference will be held at Blue Ridge Community College on Saturday October 29 from 9:00am to 2:00pm.

We’re expecting some lively sessions around developmental math and distance learning in the context of VCCS’s re-engineering attempts. And, as always, we’ll have sessions on best teaching practices and presentations on cool math topics.

The Vmatyc Northern Region is the five schools BRCC, GCC, LFCC, NVCC, and PVCC.
