Coastal Plain Species Site
This site will hold as many tidewater and coastal plain residents as will survive our more rigorous winters. There are some interesting species in the landscaped area to the north of the entrance drive, including a collection of shrubs donated by the University of Delaware arboretum. Note that white pines found here are part of a previous landscape planting, and are typically mountain species; also that Franklinia is not known to have been native to Virginia. The wildflower meadow lies in the upermost part of this site. Wildflowers are identified by small plastic stakes.
