Email

Do I have an email account?  Do students have email accounts?  Is it important that I use my email?

You are given a VCCS email account as soon as you become a BRCC employee.  Your email address and instructions on how to access your MyBRCC accounts (including email, SIS, etc) will be mailed as soon as you are hired.  Additionally, a session for how to use these accounts is offered at both the fall and spring adjunct orientation session.

Yes, students also have email accounts.  If you are using Blackboard for your course, all students along with their email accounts will be listed in your course section.  You can use this to send email to your students.  Additionally, you can also email directly from your class roster in SIS. For questions about student email, please contact the ICS Help Desk at ext 2327.

It is very important that you use your VCCS email account and only respond to student question from their VCCS email account.

How do I access my email from home?

You can access your email account, SIS, or your Blackboard courses by way of MyBRCC.  Instructions for getting into MyBRCC are explained during the orientation sessions. If you have questions, please contact the Help Desk at ext. 2327.

Can I have my VCCS email forwarded to another email account?

Yes, if you would prefer to have your VCCS email account forwarded to another email account you check daily, such as a work email address, you can do that.  The instructions for setting it up are provided here.  One word of caution, however, is that you need to be sure you save the email messages on the VCCS server (shown in the instructions).  If a student sends a file you don’t think you received, and your VCCS  email address is set to automatically forward, the VCCS will not be able to assist you in finding that lost file.
