BRCC is committed to serving students who choose to pursue their education through distance learning classes and to broadening access to those who find BRCC a good fit for their educational aspirations.
Distance education is identified as any formal educational process in which the majority (50% or more) of instruction (interaction between students and instructors and among students) in a course occurs when students and instructors are not in the same place. Distance education courses are defined and differentiated as follows:
- Courses entirely online (except for one or more proctored assessment) will begin with the letter “V” – V01, V02, V35, etc. Example, ITE 119-V01
- Hybrid courses that meet online MORE THAN 50% of the time will begin with the letter “H” – H01, H02, H35, etc. Example, ITE 119-H01
BRCC is offering NEW shared distance learning courses through Northern Virginia Community College’s Extended Learning Institute (ELI). You now have the opportunity to take unique online courses that offer a broader choice of career and educational content. These shared courses can also help you with those last few courses you needed to complete your degree requirements! Click here to see the courses offered through Shared Distance Learning Courses.
BRCC provides support to students enrolled in distance learning courses and to faculty who teach them.
