BRCC Veterinary Technology Graduates Excel on National Exam

Blue Ridge Community College’s Veterinary Technology Class of 2012 achieved a one hundred percent pass rate on the National Veterinary Technician Exam. Sixty-two students in all took the exam: 34 completed their studies on BRCC’s Weyers Cave campus; 12 students attended distance education courses at Tidewater Community College and 16 attended Virginia Western Community College.

“Our students’ average scores were considerably higher than the national averages in all five parts of the test,” said Stuart L. Porter, VMD, professor of veterinary technology. “Nationally, the pass rate is 75 percent.”

In addition, BRCC’s Veterinary Technology program has received full accreditation from the American Veterinary Medical Association for another 6 years.
