Ann Carter Smith, M.Ed., Counselor and Assistant Professor at Blue Ridge Community College won a 2011 Hallmark Distinguished Advisor Award at the Phi Theta Kappa International Convention held recently in Seattle.
Smith was the only Virginia advisor to win this honor, and one of only 31 recognized internationally.  “I am truly humbled to receive this award,” said Smith. “And I am very proud of our chapter and all that the members have accomplished.” Continue reading →

For anyone who has always wanted to learn another language, Blue Ridge Community College is offering a free class that will provide participants with a sampling of six foreign languages.

On Saturday, May 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon, in the Plecker Workforce Center, students will learn conversational Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, Spanish and Russian. Continue reading →
