Clinical Application Packets will be available on November 30, 2009 on this nursing webpage.  Applicants will need to download the appropriate admission packet and return a paper copy to the BRCC Admissions and Records Office. Applicants will receive a receipt and must follow all deadlines as listed in the packet.

Students who have met the following minimum requirements may submit an application:

Some Considerations for Clinical Admission

  • Selective GPA
  • Residence within our service area**
  • Recommendations
  • TEAS scores
  • BIO 141 & BIO 142 must be completed with a “B” or better in order to be competitive.

**Residency in Service Region for Nursing Program Applicants

Because the number of applicants to the clinical component of the BRCC nursing program generally exceeds the space available in the program, some applicants may not be accepted even if the minimum requirements for admission are met.  First priority is given to residents of BRCC’s service region:  Harrisonburg, Staunton, Waynesboro, Augusta County, Rockingham County, and Highland County.

In order to be considered a resident of the BRCC service region, applicants must have resided continuously in the service region for at least 12 months prior to the clinical application deadline and not be residents of the service region solely for the purpose of education.

Students who do not qualify for in-state tuition status for the semester during which they begin the clinical component of the nursing program are considered to be non-residents of the service region.

 Admission Notification

All applicants will be notified by VCCS Gmail about the status of their admission packets after the stated deadline and are notified in writing regarding acceptance or denial prior to early registration deadlines.
A physical exam is required after acceptance. In addition, an up-to-date copy of immunizations, CPR, Malpractice Insurance and Health Insurance are due yearly. Criminal background checks and urine screens are required.
