ProfileAll reported incidents, even those of a minor nature, are reported to the office of the Associate Vice President for Business and Facilities. Summaries of those incident reports can be viewed on this site. These situations are pointed out in the hopes of reinforcing the need to follow BRCC's Campus Security Policies and Procedures.

Inappropriate Conduct: 10/31/2011

On October 31, 2011, a visitor to the Weyers Cave Main Campus reported that two individuals (male and female) were engaging in inappropriate conduct in a car in the North parking lot. Security Officers approached the vehicle, told occupants to desist, that the behavior would not be tolerated, and that the individuals had to leave campus. The incident was reported to the Virginia State Police.

Theft: Bookstore

03/28/11 Suspected Bookstore Thefts -

During the month of March 2011 it was reported that a suspected “theft and buyback” scam was occurring.  Two students were returning and being paid for textbooks using the “buyback program” for classes in which they had never been registered.  Video surveillance will be installed in the bookstore to provide increased security.

Female student reported inappropriate conduct in the Library. Male student was identified, BRCC Security Director met with student and reiterated BRCC Student Code of Conduct standards.

Physical Assault

An acquaintance of a student reported that the student had been physically assaulted in a parking lot on Tuesday 10/19/10 between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. by an individual on whom the student had had served with a protective warrant. The student later reported that she sustained minor injuries and was examined by her personal physician. The student also stated that she had notified local law enforcement agencies at the time of the incident.
