RVT NEEDED FOR NEW VETERINARY INTERNAL MEDICINE PRACTICE
Savannah Veterinary Internal Medicine & Intensive Care, a new specialty practice in Savannah, GA, is looking for a registered veterinary technician to lead our technical team. SVIM&IC is a small animal referral only practice owned by a board-certified small animal internist (Diplomate ACVIM) which sees patients referred from local veterinarians either by appointments, or as a same-day emergency transfers. Most patients have multiple complex diseases and/or are critically ill and need 24-hour intensive care. Continuous care for hospitalized patients is provided in collaboration with the emergency clinic that resides in the same facility. Surgery and routine care are not performed by the practice, although there is a surgical practice that shares the same facility and provides surgical support as required.
The practice provides high-quality, technically-advanced, compassionate and optimistic care to the region. Ultrasound, all forms of minimally invasive endoscopy, digital radiography, CT scan capabilities and blood transfusion medicine are some of the advanced diagnostics and treatments offered by the practice.
The ideal candidate will be an RVT in the State of Georgia, or able to obtain licensure within 90 days of starting employment, with strong interpersonal skills, great written and verbal communication skills and have an optimistic approach to patient care. We pride ourselves in being a group of optimistic individuals sharing the common goal of treating, comforting and caring for some of the most critical patients. Specific responsibilities include:
- assisting in appointments (history taking, discussing discharge instructions, holding patients)
- discussing treatment plans and results with owners, either in person or by telephone
- performing labwork including CBC with differential, chemistry, urinalyses, blood typing & cross-matching
- placement of catheters, including peripheral and central IV, urinary
- anesthetizing patients and anesthesia monitoring
- performing radiographs (digital) and CT scans
- performing all treatments for hospitalized patients including administering oral & injectable medications, performing blood transfusions and general patient care
Since we are a small practice, additional duties will be expected by all team members as needed, including administrative tasks such as answering the phone and scheduling appointments when the receptionist is unavailable. Also, additional hours, which occasionally could include weekends or holidays, may be required on an as-needed basis during the absence of other team members. Overtime pay will be offered during such occasions.
We offer highly competitive pay, a four day work week with minimal after-hours and weekend duties.
